Good coffee, where you alread are.
We’re Trey and Faithe Zoda, owners and operators of Dead Metaphors Coffee. We’ll answer your first question up front: a “dead metaphor” refers to a figure of speech that has become so common, worn, and everyday that it’s lost its original meaning. At Dead Metaphors Coffee, we think the worn things in life are worth a second look, and that the ordinary parts of your day are worth doing well.
What started as a casual appreciation for premium drinks at a local coffee shop evolved into a passion for single-origin pour-over and a perfectly balanced iced vanilla latte. Now, our reality looks more like “drink to survive” while raising our two young children and working full-time than leisurely enjoying a beverage at our favorite coffee shop. However, we weren’t willing to give up the good stuff, so we learned to make it at home, with Trey at the helm as our resident connoisseur.
The idea arrived during an afternoon slump. His home brew was long gone, the nearest decent shop was 25 minutes away, and the only options within reach were a stale coffee pod, a syrupy drive-thru drink, or gas station coffee. What was missing wasn’t just better coffee. It was better coffee where he already was.
We don’t think convenience and quality have to be mutually exclusive, so we created Dead Metaphors Coffee to take our passion for well-crafted drinks on the road right to where you already are: your office, gym, church, event, training, or party. We’d love to show you why we think the ordinary things of life are worth a second look.
With love and a little coffee snobbery,
Faithe and Trey
